Jason is a seasoned B2B marketing leader specializing in the development and execution of demand creation strategies to accelerate growth. He has carried quota for selling policy production systems to insurance companies, managed tele-qualification teams for an on premise knowledge management solution provider, and marketed solutions ranging from specialized customer relationship management applications to cloud-based e-procurement solutions for the SMB market.
Prior to starting the Marketing Converts blog and the popular Marketing Milestones podcast (with co-host, Paul Taylor), Jason took a sabbatical from the corporate world to scratch an itch for international travel with his family.
Before his European adventures, Jason was SiriusDecisions’ vice president and group director of demand services. In this role, Jason led SiriusDecisions’ largest advisory service and built the business case for SiriusDecisions to develop a service targeting “emerging growth” B2B organizations. Prior to joining Sirius, Jason was vice president of marketing at Coupa Software, an e-procurement and expense management solution provider pioneering cloud-based solutions to control business spending. Under his leadership, Coupa grew 100 percent year-over-year and went from a virtual unknown to an innovative challenger to industry leaders. Earlier in his career, Jason served as vice president of corporate marketing at InQuira, a leading provider of enterprise knowledge applications acquired by Oracle, and was responsible for all corporate marketing initiatives, including demand generation, messaging, and marketing communications. During his tenure, revenues grew nearly tenfold and the marketing organization won one of the original Markies (for Best Lead Scoring).
Jason holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and a BA in international relations and economics from the University of Delaware.
Jay is a recognized thought leader in B2B marketing who focuses on helping companies gain maximum value from their investments in marketing technology. He’s given hundreds of presentations and written dozens of articles on demand generation, lead management, demand modeling, and technology strategy.
Prior to starting the Marketing Converts blog and growing his lumberjack beard, Jay was vice president of Client-Focused Technology at SiriusDecisions. In this role, Jay led SiriusDecisions’ marketing and sales technology coverage and research agenda; chaired the SiriusDecisions Technology Exchange (TechX); oversaw the development of SiriusDecisions web-based and Excel-based research tools; and was responsible for all web properties (website, client-portal, online marketplace of technology vendors). Prior to this role, as a member of SiriusDecisions’ Marketing Operations and Demand Creation Strategies analyst teams, Jay provided guidance on demand creation best practices.
Before joining SiriusDecisions, Jay was lead strategist at The Pedowitz Group. Jay also served as senior consultant for CRM at Brightcove and senior manager of e-marketing and marketing operations at FAST, a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft. In these roles, Jay implemented marketing automation at dozens of B2B organizations, consolidated CRM and database applications into unified CRM systems, defined corporate master data management strategies, and project managed the redesign and build of corporate websites.
Jay earned an MBA in marketing from the University of Notre Dame, an MA in marketing from Bentley University, an MA in project management from George Washington University, a BA in management from Bentley University, a graduate certificate in human-computer interaction from Tufts University, and a Project Management Professional (PMP) credential from the Project Management Institute.
